II INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR "REDIMENSIONING PATHWAYS
BEYOND PRISON: Human Rights Education and Social Reintegration"

The International Seminar “REDIMENSIONING PATHWAYS BEYOND PRISON: Human Rights Education and Social Reintegration” is annually promoted by the Center for Human Rights, Education and Social Movements (NUDHEM) and by the research group “Human Rights, Education and Public Policies (DHEPP), both from the State University of Goiás (UEG).

The International Seminar “REDIMENSIONING PATHWAYS BEYOND PRISON: Human Rights Education and Social Reintegration” is linked to the Education and Human Rights Program in the State of Goiás, and seeks to contribute to the construction and offering of spaces for discussion on the prison issue in Brazil, with a focus on critical comparative analysis between international and national experiences that lead to the training of agents of liberating education for the prison community in particular and society in general.

The International Seminar “REDIMENSIONING PATHWAYS BEYOND PRISON: Human Rights Education and Social Reintegration” aims to critically examine the penitentiary issue, focusing on the situation of men and women deprived of liberty in closed, semi-open, and open regimes within the Goiás prison system. Furthermore, it seeks to train managers, professors, undergraduate and graduate students, and technical administrative staff to work in prisons and in the reception of individuals deprived of liberty. It also aims to raise awareness among members of the Public Prosecutor's Office and the Public Defender's Office, both of the State of Goiás, to adopt a sensitive approach to the human rights of individuals deprived of liberty in closed, semi-open, and open regimes within the Goiás prison system.

Therefore, the International Seminar “REDIMENSIONING PATHWAYS BEYOND PRISON: Human Rights Education and Social Reintegration” favors the breaking of paradigms, preconceptions and stigmatization in relation to people in situations of deprivation of liberty, within the scope of the State University of Goiás, involving professors, undergraduate and postgraduate students and technical administrative staff, contributing to solving the problem of the lack of training of professionals qualified to work in the Goiás prison system.

Our Mission

We seek to transform society by raising awareness and supporting the reintegration of individuals who have been through the prison system.
